Three huge names have announced a summer tour, and you’re not going to believe your eyes when you see who it is: are all going to be headed to a city near you! The dates are on the flyer, and you’re in for it, as the these bands have never been billed together like this before.

I admit, the Dandy Warhols were cool a while back, and then I saw the movie “Dig!” and I thought the band was a bunch of lousy whining idiots. Meanwhile, I started to listen to their arch rivals, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and then snapped out of it when the new Living Sacrifice Album came out.
But after a long stint in musical limbo, of sorts, the Warhols are back with new music and a tour of the earth that actually likes them.
The new album will be streamed first to their loyal fans via their website, and released in physical form through their very own label. If you’re interested in all that…check out the official Dandy Warhols website, and if you’re lucky see them on tour.
I saw them recently, and they aren’t half bad…which means they aren’t half good either.

Ozzfest is not going to be a full blown summer tour that goes town to town this year. It isn’t even free, like it was last year. This time around it is scheduled for Aug. 9 at Dallas’ Pizza Hut Park in Texas. That’s right, one day at one city, it’s going to be Ozzfest!
No tour, no multi-date promises, just one date, one city, and multiple stages. Oh and Pizza Hut is in there too…real metal, huh?

Rancid, the punk rock legends, have announced a full scale U.S tour for this summer. No festivals, no gimmicks, just raw Punk Rock. They are playing dates with all sorts of punk rockers from the diehard’s to the pop-punk stylings, they cover the whole punk scene from today and yesterday on their way to potentially releasing a new disc of music. Blondie got a bad rap for making it on the wings of disco music, but they didn’t start off polished and full of pretense. They grew out of the CBGB punk rock scene in New York City, and somehow along the way they have made a few good records, although the disco era doesn’t help their street cred.
I know, it’s a little odd to think of Blondie in terms of punk rock, but really, I kid you not, Blondie was a part in the early stages of American punk rock, alongside The Ramones and others.
Well for those of you that are open minded, you will be able to enjoy them one more time as they are going on tour and trying to make a go at it, one more time. I just saw the singer in that movie “Videodrome” and she used to be hot…man, she could still sing too…why not give them a second chance?
Or at least look into the punk rock history books and see where they mention Blondie.

I still don’t believe Mxpx should get treated as a “supporting” act. But I guess it is better than nothing.

The Seattle music scene might not be churning out multi-platinum recording artists in sets of two’s and three’s, but the mid 90’s alternative explosion still has some bands playing live and selling records. Pearl Jam is the latest band to be going on tour, and here are the latest dates from the guys that made it big, and survived the crash of the Seattle grunge explosion.

The swing craze might have lasted a short while in the late 90’s, as a booming ska hungry audience formed around major labels, but the bands that were around for that period of time are still kicking. Case in point: The Cherry Poppin Daddies, who are set to release a new album entitled, Susquehanna on June 10th, 2008. Swing fans will be glad to know that they are not ditching their horns, and not going into a more rocksteady sound, and this will be a great release in light of recent releases that have no staying power. Mike Ness is set to embark on a solo tour, and while he’s not hitting every city in the U.S. he’s going on a big enough trek for many of his fans to catch him live doing both solo tracks and acoustic tracks from his band Social Distortion.
