The great thing about doing Seshn, is we can do whatever the hell we feel like. That’s why we decided that the site needed a little more humor added to it. Humor is a good thing and it def gets me through each work day. This section was inspired by a little chubby kid by the name of Brian Peete. Check it out below and let us know if you want us to keep this feature or kill it off.

On Saturday I was lucky enough to see a large amount of the skate industry come together in support of a fallen shredder. Levi Huffman suffered a severe head injury on International Go Skate Day, he was in the ICU for weeks. The reason that so many people came together for Levi is his amazing character. I have a huge amount of respect or Levi, he is the kind of person who will go out of his way to help anyone he can.Like how he takes a group of little skate groms to a different skatepark that they wouldn’t normally have access to each week. Every time I skate with Levi he goes out and teaches someone something new or give them the confidence in themselves to do more than they thought the could. Levi and his fiancée are expecting their first child later this year, he will be an amazing father. On the 12th Board Cartel put together a skate contest along with Woodward to raise money for Levi and his family. The people at Cartel got everyone they could involved and before we knew it there were over 20 sponsors sending product to help Levi. Product from Circa, Fallen, Mystery, Zero, Black Box, Anon, Nixon, Oakley, Element, RVCA, Bern helmets, Neff, Etnies, and boardpusher.com.
The local shops, Thirfty Stick, 303 Boards, and Board Room also pitched in and each gave out package of gear for the event.

So our pal Cyle Cadam ,a.k.a Creepy Cyle, over at Electric visual was nice enough to send us some of the newest and hottest shades to be released. Electric has always been known for being rider and skater influenced. With Team memebers like Bam Margera, Chris Bradshaw, Lucas Magoon, Pierre Luc-Gagnon, Jamie Anderson; Electric is surely going to be a heavy hitter with style and orginality. Now I know you all have seen the Frogskins from Oakley, but have you seen the new flare of the Detroit. With Retro inspired styling for a post modern world these will hit the clubs with the fresh and funk you have been looking for. The Detroit rocks vintage lines with a 21st century vibe, and enough style to make Johnny Cash jealous. The Hoodlum’s personally are my favorite. Once again Electric has mastered the clean vintage lines that make this an easy choice to rock for any grand entrance. The Hoodlum’s are very lightweight and 70’s inspired which make them perfect for summer parties. Be sure to notice the Rasta flare for extra added style. Now everyone needs a pair of aviators to set it off. Wether you are wearing a desginer suit or just flossing the streets; the Airheart will give you the swagger to make you clean and crisp. With distinctive lines and a wire framed lense the Airheart well let you try something new beside the oversized look of today. All these shades plus goggles and more can be viewed at www.electricvisual.com . Also be sure to add them on Myspace http://www.myspace.com/electricvisual and tell them KDeezy at Seshn sent you. Thanks again Cadam and all the crew at Electric.

The new copy of Skatebook is here and you need one. The cover is slangin’ Bart Simpson and the “leap of faith” drop artwork, which is an awesome concept for a cover. Volume III features photography from Lance Mountain, Tobin Yelland, Shigeo and many more. Since it’s inception, Skatebook has been dominating and local shops have been selling out of these things quick.
For $19.95, you can get a copy here.

Annie Higgie is a very original artist from Australia we just found out about. The Sydney based illustrator has a very unique style to her artwork. The shattered, distorted geometric images of people almost have a Volcom-type feel to them. I can totally picture a Volcom logo in a lot of these images. Nice work Anna, very awesome!
Check out a ton of Anna’s images after the jump!

Quiksilver held an 80’s contest this past weekend and our man Jordan Hoffart, was all over it. Jordan was slangin’ some of the shortest shorts on the block that day and was also pumping out bangers all over the course.

The fine people over at Tom’s just sent us some chick shoes for us to check out, and the Seshn girlies are loving them! From what they are telling us, they are about the most comfortable pairs of shoes they have ever worn — and we are not just saying that. The girls say they really are!
Tom’s shoes are so ridiculously simple, it’s no wonder they are so cozy. They feature a lightweight canvas upper and a soft leather insole that hug the contour of your foot. But the best part about Tom’s is that they give away a pair of shoes for every pair that’s purchased, to starving kids all around the world.
Make sure you check their website out at TOMSshoes.com
We had our in-house photog, Courtney Winnie snap these beautiful shots below of some of the shoes Tom’s sent us:

Lotus Entertainment threw an amazing party in Burlington VT this weekend. It was the Lipstick Lounge with a 1920s theme. People showed up in all kinds of crazy outfits including neon Flapper outfits and old school pilot uniforms. The party started on a cruise ship and the after party took place a Red Square. It was an interesting night to say the least. All photos by me… LAustin Design.

Lupe Fiasco and N.E.R.D. are bringing art and music together for one sick collaboration. Recently both Lupe Fiasco and N.E.R.D. were involved in a cover project for Complex Magazine that featured artwork from REAS and KAWS. Complex thought it would be cool to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how it all went down by releasing a couple videos that feature the making of the covers. Pretty interesting stuff.Check out more about this on Hypebeast

Obsessed with space and design and the mysteries of both, Jozias Dawson hunts for Bigfoot and loves simple Swedish food. With nine years design exploration and deep conversations with the summonings of his Ouija Board (that he never actually got to work) he has managed to define a unique style and enjoys keeping his work as unique as his obsessions.
Jozias has done all kinds of work for huge name companies from Mountain Dew to Nike. There is no wonder why the come knocking on his door when they are in need for something original and inspiring. Dawson’s art is quickly becoming unmistakable and we are stoked to have him apart of the homepage for Seshn.

While most recognized artists & designers are conventionally bred in the artistic incubation of trendy hotspots on the left and right coasts of the United States, it was in the foyers of an archetypal school in a small town that unconventional artist Kelly D. Williams cut his creative teeth. Taking an unapologetic and raw style from his background of skateboarding and unrefined music, Kelly manages to mess and impress using otherwise incompatible mediums.
Kelly is the definition of a multi-tasker. From designing art for Analog Clothing to forming all kinds of companies from Snowboards, to design firms, Kelly is all over the place and is one of the hardest working people I know, even though I have not known him for very long.
Since day one, Kelly has been backing Seshn. We are pleased to unveil the first ‘canvas cover art’, and couldn’t be any more stoked than to have Kelly be displaying his work for us proudly here on the homepage.
Check out Kelly’s website at http://kellydwilliams.com

If you are out in the LA area, def check out the August 1st event from http://sneakerpimps.net. They have Public Enemy, Ghostface Killah, Kids in the Hall and various DJ’s performing on the stage… but what the real show is in my opinion are the live art installation shows that will be going on throughout the concert.
Art will be created live by one of my faves, Tokidoki (tokidoki.it), Peekaboo!monster peekaboomonster.com), Peabe pea-be.com) and others. If you haven’t checked out these guys art before, go take a peek. All 3 are known for their stylized characters, tokidoki has branched into many arenas, including some sick skate decks; Peekaboo! is starting to do the same; and Peabe is just busy creating some way out there sketches. Click to see more for some art previews from these three guys.

I came across this today and just had to post it. It seems that surf great, Kelly Slater and artist, Emil Kozak have collabo’d to bring you two very cute surfboards, that could make you look very ‘festive’ in the water. Now it’s obvious that surfboards are on the brink of a huge shift in design and style, and you will see more and more boards popping up next year that emulate skateboards. We just posted a blog about Super Surfboards and what they are doing, and it’s great but if art on surfboards is going to be looking this cutesy, they are going to have to send me some matching wrapping paper to go with it. I am really hoping we don’t see Kelly using these in the water.

Seshn: Where you posted at?
CB: Twin Peaks, CA…Big Bear
Seshn: Who are your sponsors?
CB: Technine, Electric Visual, Neff, Vans, Big Bear, Ambigious
Seshn: What do you want to take from snowboarding?
CB: RESPECT!!!!!!!!!
Seshn: Why is Dingo so popular?
CB: WHO?????…oh you mean that guy from Australia?!?!?!
Seshn: What is your whip game like?
CB: You know I roll stunna style. Got that 2000 beater Subaru on some all black stock 15″ rims. Then I got a cracked windshield so the PoPo dont spot me. Also got me two 15’s running off 500 watts. Str8 Ghetto Fab
Seshn: What riders should we look out for?
CB: There are too many to name. Much respect to Goon Squad, Nico Cioffi, and Midget Mafia..Repersent!
Seshn: What is your favorite thing about snowboarding?
CB: They way it feels. It’s a good escape from the bull shit.
Seshn: Some say your style is one of the best in the game. What influences your style of riding?
CB: I do it how I can do it. I just keep it all about me and what feels right.
Seshn: What is one thing you want to change about snowboarding?
CB: Bitch ass faggots. There are way too many people that talk way too much. People need to get out of my business unless your on some grown man business. I am about to ride down the hill naked covered in blood to scare people and give them something to talk about.
Seshn: What is like filming “Bozwreck 2″?
CB: Shit is raw. Snowboarding ain’t ready for what Nate[Bozung] and Matty[Ryan] are about to release and I think it’s funny. But on the real some of the best uncut and uncensored snowboarding is going down in Bozwreck.
Seshn: So how is your part in “Familia”…the Finga on Da Trigga flick.
CB: I work hard when Cole[Taylor] ain’t choking me and [Lucas]Magoon out. I am pumped to see what this years flick is going to look like. We got some heavy hitters holding down the block.
Seshn: Do you want your daughter to pursue snowboarding?
CB: My daughter has been shredding since she came out the gut. If she wants to pursue it I got her back for life.. she is my little soldier. But my advise to her is keep away from the money hungry sharks in the indusrty. A lot of big heads are just trying to use people for their wealth and care less about us getting broke off. Sometimes I want to beat these busters down , but I don’t want to catch a case over some waldo getting stuck.
Seshn: What advice can you give to kids that want to pro shreds?
CB: Keep shredding and fuck the agents trying to swoop you up. Tell them to get raped…fucking molester’s. Also listen to your parents and stay away from strangers.
Seshn: Shout Outz !
CB: To all my fucking homies..you know who you are! C-Town, V.O.E, my sponsors (unless the check is late…hahaha just playin), and all the Cat’s out there repping the lifestyle…..S.T.D. (shred till death)

A while back I came across a video by BLU, featuring all sorts of creatures climbing over the interior walls of a building. It was amazing. MUTO, Blu’s latest project, in which creatures terrorize large scale walls leaves me without words. Blu describes the project as “an ambiguous animation painted on public walls.” The amount of time & energy and the shear magnitude of this project is mind-boggling! I’m SPEECHLESS!

Stoked Sessions is a benefit auction to raise money to give at-risk youth the opportunity to try alternative sports, like surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. One of the greater ideas I have heard of in a long time. Anyways, the action starts this Saturday in L.A. at The Grind Art and Print Gallery. The event features a silent auction of over 600 one-of-a-kind skateboard decks from today’s leading artists in skateboarding, surfing and street art.
Featured artists include: Caballero, Christian Hosoi, Chris Pastras, Abe Lincoln, Jr, Hit + Run, Todd Bratrud, Eyeone, Joey Potts, Kofie’one, Draftsmen, Enik One, Norton Wisdom, Joe Joe Webb, and Marco Zamora.
This is an event you don’t want to miss! For more info and tickets go to stokedsessions.com

Papa Ghede comes from Haitian folklore. Guédé is a family of spirits
that represent death and fertility. Papa Ghede is one of those many
spirits. He is described as the corpse of the first man to ever die.
Short and dark in stature holding a apple in his left hand smoking a
cigar and wearing a high hat. Some also say he is dressed all in
black similar to an undertaker with a face like a skull. He has the
knowledge of the life and afterlife of all who have died. Papa Ghede
waits at the crossroads to escort fresh souls into the afterlife
(Guinee). Papa Ghede has a wife named Maman Brigitte and a brother
Ghede Bábáco. In the voodoo religion people pray to Papa Ghede if
there child is sick or dying. It is said that he will not take a life
before it’s time.

We’ve been working on this for the past few weeks, and the work that’s in it for the past 20 years. We think it’s ready for prime time (let us know if it’s not). It’s a collection of logo identity projects and icons designed and illustrated by Drew Dougherty and includes award winning, unpublished and personal favorites.
