“How does it feel Chas to win one bizzillion dollars in a year?”
Words by Tawnya Schultz/ Pics by Binky
First off I must apologize for slacking and not having a post up sooner. I know; it’s not like me or us at all. Here’s the thing. Something so random happened this weekend at the West Coast Invitational after party while Talib Kweli was performing on stage. While Pancho was holding my camera and showing me a “memory card full” message since we had taken more than 100 photos that night some crazy guy jumped on stage attempting to stage dive. Well literally within a split second security grabbed the dude and bro went flying off the stage landing directly on Pancho who’s like half this guy’s size. Anyway Pancho somehow survived but my camera did not. It went flying as well vanishing within seconds. So I’m putting the word out. Someone has my Canon digi cam with tons of rail jam and Talib Kweli party photos. We pulled some pics together for ya though, courtesy of Binky, and here’s a brief rundown of what went down at this year’s W.C.I. in Mammoth Lakes, CA.

Chris Grenier mobbin’ it before he got hurt.

Last month our team met up in Arizona to gather some content. On the trip was Ronnie Creager, Gary Smith, Shawn Hale, Andrew Cannon, Tom Geilfus, and Ki Realer. We were lucky to have Matt Price shoot photos and Thad Crosky who filmed and edited this clip. The clip has been getting a ton of views on the Skateboard Mag Website, Osiris Website, and Skate AZ. So stop by those sites and support our new friends. Thanks to everyone that was involved in this successful trip.

Mixel Pixel
Let’s Be Friends
Mental Monkey
Mixel Pixel has enjoyed success since ten years ago when they formed in Delaware. After four albums, the band has come across a proven formula for greatness. Blending hollow distant vocals from both Rob Corradetti and Kaia Wong, Atari-inspired sound effects and samples, electronic beats, bluesy organ, and hollow echoing guitar, Let’s Be Friends casts a soft vibe into your ears. Like a sun emitting its morning glow, the album immediately initiates your friendship. Rob, visual artist and founding member of the band, drew the artwork on the cover depicting subjects as diverse as the album’s lyrics and sonic utterances. Sure. It deals with cats, sweaters, death, drugs, fashion, lightning, loneliness, New York City, rebirth, and sex. But the success of the album lies in the lover/friend dilemma. Released on Mental Monkey records, Let’s Be Friends will either be an album to fall in love with instantly, or merely one to comfort you in times of loneliness. On “Distant Station”, the last track and also my favorite, lyrics about heartbreak, warm guitar and mellow keyboard exude warmness. Kaia explains “my love for you is like a secret potion”, proving the album would like to love you. Please do the same. – Jonathan Mendick, Mannerist Zine
Thats right… we even have interns. Here is a sequence of one of them getting shacked.

DVS is bringing back the old school with it’s latest collabo with Ray-Ban. I remember my parents rocking Ray-Bans like it was nobody’s business back in the day and now DVS is crewing up with these guys to add more flavor to the already very premium Luxe label.
