I just got back from the Andaman Islands and had a crazy adventure searching for waves and living the culture of the locals. We were gone for 1 month and returned safely with countless memories. I was shooting the whole time and I came back with so many photos from our experiences. Check out more on my site www.photoblw.com

Kelly Slater came out striking on day one of the Globe Pro Fiji, scoring a perfect 10 to cap an amazing first day in the South Pacific. Reportedly the waves have been next to perfect measuring in at a close 6 feet at Restaurants. Currently ranked No. 1, Slater took over round one with a first round score of 19.73 out of 20.00, proving once again why he is in the number one spot. But the question that is on alot of peoples minds is, can Kelly keep this up after having a near perfect first round? That remains to be seen, but Slater fans can only hope so.
“I wanted to get a quick start because it was kind of slow in the heats before mine so I started off with a 7.8,” Slater said. “That wasn’t a bad score for what was out there earlier, but set after set just kept getting better and better. One set had eight waves in it. There was definitely no shortage of waves and no hassling so it was a special heat, you don’t get too many heats like that on tour.”
After finishing 17th last week in Tahiti, Slater rose to the occasion and came out firing early. Stay tuned as we bring you more coverage of the Globe Pro Fiji.

“I am going back to being a freesurfer, it’s what I was meant to do.” - Bruce Irons
Bruce Irons is going back to the stream he came from and it’s about time. After four and a half years of tough losses, Bruce is set to go back to his roots. This is good news for everyone as it really gives Bruce a chance to be creative again and shine in the light that he needs to be in.
Bruce is now 28 years old and admits that he has some regrets about surfing in the tour. Of course there were a few good times along the way like when he finished second to his brother Andy Irons, in the 2004 Quik Pro in Hossegor but it seemed like the bad times outweighed the good in this situation.
Irons will be finishing up the tour this year as he is loyal to his commitments but after that, it’s over and he will be “free” again once more. Best of luck to you Bruce and we can’t wait to see your progression in free surfing over the next few years!
Matt Keenan is in Bali right now with Mike Losness and their chicks. They also brought along photog Anthony Ghiglia. Congratulations to Matt on his engagement… what better place in the world to make it go down. Anyway, here is a photo… along with our ichat conversation.
Stop by Anti Apparel and pick up the Capone Stripe woven and ask your chick to get married in it like Keenan did.

Brazilian surf pro, Bruno Santos took the win in the final, edging out guys like Mick Fanning, CJ Hobgood and Taj Burrow. According to sources, the event really didn’t go off as expected and the swell was struggling to stay consistent. For more coverage on the event go to billabongpro.com
If you haven’t heard the Nathan Gocke story you can check it out here. To sum it up, Nathan is now paralyzed from a bad slam while surfing in Hermosa Beach. As we all know, medical bills suck and you can only imagine what spinal injury bills are going to cost Nathan and his family. We all know, this type of thing could happen to any of us at anytime, so please help Nathan out by attending the Nathan Gocke benefit. Details for the benefit are posted below:
Alejo left this voicemail the other day and everyone at the office was frothing on it… so we have decided to share it with you. If you don’t know Alejo… check out this photo that ran in Transworld Surf last issue.

We pack a ton of boxes here and love screwing around with the people we ship to. We draw rollerblades, rainbows, unicorns and all sorts of gay art work on the inside and put random things in with peoples stuff to mess with them. So the other day we needed to mail Andrew Cannon a reimbursement check for the AZ trip. Instead of sending it regular mail with a stamp… we decided to waste some cardboard and send it fed ex. Enjoy!
