Dbot5 loves you!… and you’ll love them too!

Posted on by smallakin | 3 Comments »

After heading out to Surf Expo in Orlando, I expected to come back excited about sweet new t-shirts, stylin’ sunglasses, and badass wakeboard graphics. Although there were definitely some of those, I came back stoked on an unexpected product…. Golf clubs. That’s right, I found some noteworthy golf clubs for those that participate in the more traditional sport, but are tired of it being the one area in your life that lacks that necessary steez.

Dbot5 is a company that creates a completely random mix of products; speakers for wakeboard towers, travel bags, t-shirts, and yes, golf clubs. The thing that catches your eye about these clubs at first is the bags. The golf bags come in a classic black, hail mary neon green, and hail mary hot pink. But it doesn’t stop at style, the clubs are a bonafide high quality set; all you golfers can check out the specs here: Hail Mary Pinks. or fall in love with the Hail Mary greens after the jump…

Eesa Artist Enabler Series

Posted on by smallakin | +Add a Comment »

Eesa, our fave luxe liner clothing line, is recognizing all the un-recognized artists out there and holding a contest in our honor.  They are asking for original artwork of any style, classic, conceptual, street, doodles, graphic… whatever floats your boat.  The entries will be posted up on the Eesa website for all the fans to pick their fave. If you win over the general public’s vote, then your design will be printed up on their signature 100% bamboo tees (yay for bamboo) and sent out to be sold all over the world.  Not only that, but they’ll let you design the hangtag so you can support your cause, your website, your vision etc. AND you’ll get a percentage of the sales!  Money = never a bad thing. If you think you have some creative juices flowing, send an email to  enabler at eesaclothing.com with the subject Artist Enabler Series and they will send you the whole packet with details.

What’s your Pantone color?

Posted on by smallakin | 2 Comments »

For those designers out there that work with Pantone colors on a daily basis, Pantone, Inc. has created a website for artists to share their inspiration and reasons for choosing the colors they work with everyday. The website, named My Color, My Idea and features well-known designers and artists as well as the underdogs.

My color idea is listed at Suzanne Akin

and there are plenty of other to peruse, such as one of my faves, Tokidoki

If you’re an artist or designer, log on to submit your Pantone color!

Electric Honeyrider

Posted on by smallakin | +Add a Comment »

Maybe I’m just a little obsessed with the over the top granny style sunglasses, but the new Honeyrider series from Electric is HOT. They come in 4 colors, black gloss, white gloss, orange sorbet, and my favorite, seafoam!

Each has a gradient lens in either grey or brown, with the electric logo etched along the top corner edge for added style. They’ll fit right in with my curly afro-style hair… now I just need the platform shoes. You can nab ‘em at Tactics Boardshop and qualify for free shipping.

Sector 9 sells to Billabong

Posted on by smallakin | +Add a Comment »

Billabong officially announced that they have acquired the Sector 9 company and along with it, Gullwing trucks. Although there is much speculation on the purchase price, the overall sentiment is a little bit shocked.  Some are shouting ’sellout’ while others are stoked for the boost the longboarding industry will get from the much more substantial financial backing.

One thing is for certain that Sector 9 boards will soon be everywhere (not that they weren’t already).  There’s no word yet on whether the Gullwing trucks switchover will have an effect on Dregs or Arbor.  However, as part of the deal, co-founders Steve Lake and Dennis Telfer and co-owner Dave Klimkiewicz are supposed to be sticking around in their current jobs, therefore, I doubt anyone should be worried about losing the original vision and creativity that Sector 9 brought to their field.

Boost Mobile presents Sneaker Pimps Los Angeles

If you are out in the LA area, def check out the August 1st event from http://sneakerpimps.net.  They have Public Enemy, Ghostface Killah, Kids in the Hall and various DJ’s performing on the stage… but what the real show is in my opinion are the live art installation shows that will be going on throughout the concert.

Art will be created live by one of my faves, Tokidoki (tokidoki.it), Peekaboo!monster  peekaboomonster.com), Peabe  pea-be.com) and others.  If you haven’t checked out these guys art before, go take a peek.  All 3 are known for their stylized characters, tokidoki has branched into many arenas, including some sick skate decks; Peekaboo! is starting to do the same; and Peabe is just busy creating some way out there sketches.  Click to see more for some art previews from these three guys.

Burton trying to nab some of Skullcandy profits?

Posted on by smallakin | +Add a Comment »

Burton just released a line of headphones, dubbed the ear nuggets, ear goggles, and Yo Muffs which are strangely reminiscent of Skullcandy designs.  Of course they are priced well below the Skullcandy prices even though their driver sizes are up there with Skullcandy’s.  They come in a variety of colors and can be found at store.burton.com or at any Burton Flagship store

10 Deep Presents Summer Line

New York City based streetwear line whose motto is: forget everyone and listen to yourself just released their Summer 08 lookbook.  They’ve named the collection the Black Palms collection and the theme is ‘Party while you’re still living.’  The flipbook style lookbook showcases a couple dozen new styles in a Jersey-set party…not the typical line sheet you get from most clothing companies.  You can check out the new styles at www.10deep.com/SUMMER08PREVIEW

Burton opens Indoor Terrain Park in Beijing

Posted on by smallakin | +Add a Comment »

Beijing, China is now the home to an indoor refrigerated snow dome housing 1 big booter and 2 smaller ones, two rails, a funbox, a couple barrel features, a wallride, and a poma lift so you don’t have to hike it.  They’re calling it the Burton Qiaobo Mellow Park but what it means is 365 days of riding a year… if you happen to live there.
