About Me:
Sir Jorge, as they call me, is my pen name. Although, my real name is in fact Jorge, my internet credentials are huge as Sir Jorge. I write a lot, because I can't chase a skateboarding career all my life. So I sit in an office typing away, and when the man isn't looking over my shoulder, I hit the warehouse next door for a quick session. Nothing crazy, just some flip trick attempts, some big spins, a little 50-50 grind or board slide here and there, but nothing to brag about.
Here’s the latest trailer about the Maloof Cup that is going down this July. If you’re not aware what the Maloof Cup is, then you need to wake up! It’s a skateboarding contest that is going to be giving away 100K to the #1 street skateboarder. The street course, to be made in Las Vegas, will be specifically designed for street skateboarding and will not feature some lame X-Games quarterpipe crap. This is the real deal, and it has been recently picked up by a national network for live coverage, just like a legit sport.
Element skateboards presents their latest video entitled “Elemental Awareness Future Nature”. Element TV Episode #85 brings to us some great footage from one of the busiest skate teams in skateboarding.

Andrew Reynolds joins an elite crew of skateboarders on Nixon Watches. The official Nixon website revealed today that Andrew Reynolds is the latest skateboarder signed to the watch giant and will have his own style and flavor embedded into a new watch line up. This comes as great news for Reynolds, with his new Deathwish project launching out of Baker, and the new Emerica shoes which some say could have “lights” on them. (according to recent ads) Andrew Reynolds has been doing some great things lately, and this could be seen as another piece to the puzzle. Altamont & Nixon…now that’s a collaboration that has money written all over it.
Man, I wish I could be featured on Food Network, or at least eat some of the food that they create on the show. I should have gotten a degree in video or something along those lines. Because then I could be the camera guy for some of those shows with great food being made. Or, become a professional skateboarder and be featured just like Kris Markovich! Featured skateboarding on Ace of Cakes. Here’s the footage:

If you’re not familiar with The Berrics, you should definitely check in sometimes. They have a full site of media, videos, and photos from Steve Berra’s and Eric Koston’s skate park called “The Berrics”. You may have previously seen the park in episodes of Rob & Big, and they produce a ton of videos with teams from across the nation coming in and throwing down some tricks. Well, right now they have a full page of “BANGIN” which you can check out by visiting the official Berrics, Banging Webpage.
The one thing that I don’t like about The Berric’s, and it is minor, its that you can’t directly download any of their media. But some people are able to decompile the flash player, and bring you gems like: Jason Lee Skateboarding at the Berrics, and I don’t mean classic Jason Lee footage, I mean recent footage, like this below, just wait for it…it’s the whole Stereo Team, but you can clearly see Jason Lee midway through skateboarding and featured:
Mark Gonzales has teamed up with Elwood clothing for a 100% cotton t-shirt that you might be interested in. Now, I know what you’re thinking, who cares about 1 solitary t-shirt? Well, this shirt is not only 100% cotton, it’s 100% organic cotton! So all you guys trying to go “green”, this is a good place to start, and Mark Gonzales has some squiggly lines for a design in collaboration with Dan Drehobl. Why not?
Blue Tile Lounge, Chocolate Skateboards, Momentum Wheels and a few other companies are collaborating over what maybe the feel good skateboarding release this year. The preview trailer is not half bad, the editing looks decent, and things could be looking really good for this one. Here is the trailer for Four Letter Word:
The Spanish skateboarders have been producing some high quality, high def footage as of late and here is another great quality edit. Nomad Skateboards introduces some of their best tricks and stops from their tour of the European nation and then some. It’s not half bad; who knew the skate scene in Spain was so hot right now?
Sean Malto has been on a roll as of late, first going Pro and now landing the cover of Slap Magazine. The Magazine has some 17+ odd pages of Sean Matlo talking about everything from skateboarding to personal life. Slap Magazine hasn’t exactly been my favorite magazine for a long time, but it’s still doing quite well in regards to promoting art and skateboarding in a seamless fashion. Check out the issue at newsstands now.
Just days after the internet was buzzing with Vince’s part in a the Chocolate Skateboards Television edit, here he comes out of the gate with a new shoe sponsor, that being the big boys over at Lakai Footwear. A lot of people want to call Vans the Number 1 skate shoe company, but Lakai has basically took a shot at the empire, and is building up to the number one spot shortly. They are definitely gunning for it, and with the latest signee, they might as well call Vans into check, because Lakai Limited is fulfilling a big gap in the skateboarding shoe market. Or maybe I’m just out of my mind. Here’s the welcome video for Vincent Alvarez, Lakai Team Rider:
Blueprint Skateboards has unleashed this awesome video. Mike Wright might not be plastered through magazines, but the name is going to be bigger, once more peeps check out this skate montage, and slick edit. Check it out below:
Growing up skateboarding, I always wanted to ollie the highest. I could never land it very high, however, I was always able to ollie onto things, and over things, just couldn’t do it stationary. Or just for the sake of an ollie, but give me an obstacle and I could throwdown quite a bit. Earlier this year, the World Ollie Record was broken, and here is the footage to prove it:
Rune Glifberg took first place in the Quiksilver Bowlriders contest, making for a great month for Glifberg. He’s coming off a banner month with skate magazine coverage and now this! Rune Glifberg also won the event last year, ousting some heavy hitters in skateboarding. Quiksilver has been pushing their skateboarding division as of late, and this contest is definitely one of the better events that I’ve seen in a while. You can check out full photo galleries, videos, and more from the Quiksilver Bowlriders contest via tackyworld.com.
Joining the elite crew of stopping the information bandwagon, and hackers alike, Chocolate Skateboards has unleashed Chocolate Television. That’s right, Chocolate T.v. is full of videos and footage from the Chocolate Skateboards crew and more. To take advantage of this, you need a fast internet connection, and Flash Media Player isntalled and ready to go.
The only disadvantage to their television of skateboarding glory, is that you can not fast forward, rewind, or use any other major controls. That, and you can’t download the videos, but you could always subscribe to the Chocolate Skateboards podcast…now there’s an idea.
Fallen Footwear has been promoting their latest video offering through their ads in magazines, online trailers, and teasers for a while now. Most of the videos are easily accessible, and a lot of media is still out there on youtube and other places. But to consolidate the effort of bringing quality video to you, they have launched a video gallery with their own media player.
Now you can get all the Fallen Footwear skateboarding footage onto your computer via the official Fallen Footwear website. The videos range from recent footage, trailers, teasers, to older footage, all in high quality streaming media. Not bad, not bad at all. Looks like Fallen Footwear might be trying to one up Lakai’s Fully Flared release, which recently won a Transworld Award for best video.
For those of you that follow along print media, you may have noticed that the Transworld Awards happened this past weekend. The show went off, and the pro’s were all hyped as the honors went out to some unlikely and some obvious winners. I’m not sure if I agree with the Habitat team winning best team, but to each their own.
Mariano cleaning up was cool though, Congrats to the Comeback Kid!
Activision, producer of the Tony Hawk skateboarding series, is toying with the idea of using a motion skateboard-like motion-sensitive controller for the next 360/PS3/PC game.
That’s right, Tony Hawk is really pushing the envelope, trying to gain momentum against a major competitor in the skateboarding video game market. Remember EA’s Skate? Tons of people jumped shipped for the more simulation style skateboarding game, that was backed by a lot of skateboarders that were no longer relevant in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater universe. With Proving Ground not exactly selling as many titles as the previous games in the series, The Birdman went back to Activision with a new plan.
We are now seeing that the new plan apparently might include a real motion sensitive device that will let you skateboard in real time. This seems like a perfect fit for the Wii, but I’m not sure if they can get this motion thing down and still be good.
If you’re a skateboarder, you know that there is some skill involved with skateboarding’s even most simple of movies. If this new game is really going to break ground, they are going to have to make an ollie easier than the real thing, which will then make a lot of fat kids king of video game skateboarding, rather than skateboarding for reals.
Which makes me a little skeptical about this new height of skateboarding popularity. Sure, we have a lot of couch skateboarders, but this is going to bring in a new era of skateboarding, which we are experiencing mildly right now, where people that do not skateboard at all, are still buying skateboarding products, boards, and trying to “fit in”.
I remember the first time that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was released. The same thing was said about the game. I remember thinking the same thing I am thinking now about this latest news, but then again, I still got off the couch and I still skated. So maybe this isn’t going to do a whole lot more than what happened with me.
The Bloodsucking Toy Machine skateboarding company is getting their crew in a van and moving up west through the coast. The west coast, and will be bringing the whole team this time around. They most likely will be using a lot of the stops for footage in their upcoming skateboarding video, and you can be a part of it. If you managed to catch them on their Lurkfest tour, then you’re going to be in for a good time when the Toy Machine skateboard team lands at local shops, parks, and more for signings and demo’s.
Just when you thought the internet provides free content via youtube and other locations, you hit a site that doesn’t allow you to share media. Such is the case with Bones Wheels, and their latest footage from Damn Am. Sure, they don’t want people pirating their footage or taking content away from their website, but come on…throw us poor skateboard fans a bone. (no pun intended) So to check out the footage from Bones Wheels and Dam Am you gotta visit the official Bones Wheels Company Website. I did manage to smuggle a screen grab, for you hackers out there.
The Silver Trucks crew have just released their third teaser trailer for their upcoming summer video. This video features the team doing a lot of talking, where as the other videos were just spots getting hit by one of the best teams in skateboarding. Check out the trailer below, and then hit the streets.
Ryan Sheckler is enjoying a nice mainstream push, and is crossing over from being strickly a skateboarder by occupation. We saw this happen to Tony Hawk, with his whole push towards being in commercials for Hershey’s, Dorito’s, and now with T-Mobile. Sheckler has been on a different path, and continually pushes skateboarding wherever he is, and while I am not the biggest Ryan Sheckler fan, he’s getting into places where skateboarders really never get exposure in.
Case in point; Ryan Sheckler in Men’s Fitness. He was named one of the fittest guys in America, and it’s no wonder. The guy is ripped, and is often a girls fantasy of what a real man is. (I’m going to get so killed for saying that) I say that only from my experience in a local Mall where rabid Sheckler fans were nearly causing a riot while he was signing autographs.
You can read his interview for Men’s Fitness online, or pick up the magazine in print format.
P-Rod has a new FKD bearings commercial up and running, so check out how they are wrapping up P-Rod into his own brand. The bearings aren’t that bad, and he does lay down a good line for this short thirty second spot. Check it out below:
Windsor James recently took the Black Box skateboard park by storm. Here are ten tricks from Windsor James. It’s a quick video, so if you have to, rewind it and play it again. The guy is solid, and lands some great tricks at the Black Box park.
Who said the industry was only in Southern California? Sure there are some heavyweights chillin in California, but Manik Skateboards is putting in motion a major attack plan to change the game. Here they are representing their home town with a skate demo at Innerspace in Seattle, Wa. Watch out for these guys, they are some of the best skateboarders in the Northwest and dare I say…anywhere.
Recent signee to Girl Skateboards, Mike Mo, really had his hands full with Eric Koston when they went for broke in this game of skate. You might be surprised by the victor, and it was filmed, so it will go down in history.
Element skateboards returns with Element Television Number 84, with footage from the Zumiez couch tour. Not bad, although I’m not a big fan of corporate skateboarding/surfing chains like Zumiez. But that’s just me…check out the Element crew, ripping it up for the Zumiez corporation.
